Maintaining a 1977 appearance and allowing interior detailing are two of my goals in building the Nenana Depot kit. Here are some options for getting there.
Since I want to incorporate a full interior, I prepared the interior walls for the second story and freight shed portions in .04 styrene. These walls are attached to drop in floor sections of the same size styrene, resulting in removable interior sections which can be detailed later. The floor drop in brings interior floors of the first floor closer to the proper height to match the door sills.
The finished floor of the second story needs to be about 20 scale inches above the ceiling over the freight shed so block it up accordingly with styrene stringers glued to the underside of the drop in floor. Randy Thompson of Healy Roundhouse provided the 1937 floor plan for the second story.
The stairwell to the second story is based on the blue print for the second story. I'll have to visit the station to complete the ground floor.
Here is a time line of modifications and additions to the Nenana Depot.
