Restored cars

Two antique railroad cars restored at a cost of $1 million, made their debut Friday when a trainload of VIPs took the Alaska Railroad train to Portage and back. The cars, owned by Tour Alaska Co., will bring tourists from Whittier through Anchorage to Denali National Park and fairbanks. Tour Alaska President Tom Rader said the cars are the "most luxurious passenger cars in North America." Regular Alaska Railroad passengers will be able to ride in the cars at a slight additional cost.
