While traffic on the Seward Whittier
link of the Alaska Railroad was restored with the Whittier passenger train
moving yesterday at 3 p.m., workers didn't finish rerailing the four engines
until early this morning. Yesterday afternoon the engine crane picked one
of the diesels up and rails were laid beneath it. Rails were laid around
the wreck for the passenger train. The wreck occurred yesterday at 5:30
a.m, at the south end of the yard.
