By Pat Durand

The two side views locate the extra details. Today the front end would be well enhanced by installing a Bowser ARR plow on the removable pilot and anti-climber. The section between the dynamic fan and the first cooling fan has a raised cover over the water tank air vent, water tank fill pipe and two lift rings. The rectangular box forward of the battery tray and fuel tank was marked "FROG". That is where they kept Kermit.

Roof top view locates all the details found on the fleet of three FP7 units. The horn locations varied with the date of photo so check your prototype photos. The steam generator at the rear is available as a kit for $10.00 from the builder. The double stack winterization hatch was litterally two EMD standard hatches stacked on top off each other. The unpainted top view shows the several additions made there including the air system cooling pipe. The first fan on ARR F units was covered with a flat plate in most instances. All the extra grab irons are located in the photos for you. Thanks to Intermountain for presenting us with a great selection of Alaska Railroad F units that can easily be tweeked to better represent the prototype.
