Alden West's N Scale Layout

[2/14/07] By the end of the week I decided that a new location was in order so I ripped out everything I'd done the week before & started over fresh. A 10x9 became 16 on the long side & 10 on the short. I've been pretty focused on it this past month. After many long hours of benchwork, electrical work, risers and foam it's all starting to come together. Needless to say, the theme is Alaska Railroad, but it's really freelance. Alaska is the theme, but I've made no attempt to portray any specific portion of the ARR. So, here are a couple pics. If you'd like more I'd be glad to send some along from time to time as I make progress.

[3/8/07] Work continues on my layout - the plastering is done which, as you know, is a major achievement! I'm sending along a track plan, as you asked. It's a GIF file. I designed it using XTrkCAD - which is downloadable off the net (Public domain so $Free$!!!) I like it because it lets you run trains on the layouts you design.

Here are a few more photos of the layout. Also, I've posted a number of photos, along with some info on a model train website - http://myrrlayout.com/R/Aspfiles/DetailPage.asp?Xfer_Code=20001872

I think the next step is probably to ballast the track. That is something I've never done before & I've been a bit intimidated by it - don't want to ruin a bunch of track as I climb the 'learning curve.
