I NEED YOUR HELP!
Grabbing HandGrabbing HandGrabbing Hand

If it weren't for the bizillions of contributions from ARR rail fans around the world this would not be the excellent page that it is today.   Hey, would you like to help make this page even better?  Send me stuff!  Items will be returned upon request.  I will pay all reasonable costs such as shipping, duplication, etc.

Furthermore, I can scan photographs, slides and negatives and convert analog video (VHS and 8 mm) to digital form.  You keep all copyrights for your images and will have your name posted on them.  I have several dozen references that I can provide upon request.

Some of the Alaska Railroad items I am looking for are:

Photographs of any locomotive on my "Former Locomotives" roster that does not have a photograph with it (see list at the bottom of this page)

ARR career summaries: If you have worked for the ARR for over ten years, how about writing up a summary of your career and submitting it?

Runaway Train: Any information you may have on the making of this movie

Charles Kuralt: Information, photographs or video of his ride aboard an Alaska Railroad locomotive

Healy Hotel shoot out: 1976 incident involing ARR B&B employees and The Brothers motorcycle gang

Strange Freight: Photographs of the strangest freight you have ever seen on the ARR

Picture of the week: Send your photographs and become part of this time-honored tradition!

Photographs of:
    1. any locomotive spotted outside of Alaska
    2. any model train you have made, painted and/or kit bashes
    3. Jordan spreaders 2, 4, 6

Documents: Historical, rule books, time tables, the ARR's "All Aboard" employee newsletters, etc.

Historical memories: "My dad/grandfather/uncle/etc worked for the railroad for XX years and..."; "I lived in Curry for four years and..."; "I served in the 714th Railway Operating Battalion and..."

Locomotive number 3015: Relocated to my backyard (with minimal expense to myself)

And as always, news, stories, journals, photographs, videos, rumors and gossip

Email me if there is something ARR you would like to see on these pages and I'll see what "we" can do!

Missing Roster Members

My goal is to have one photograph of every locomotive that appeared on the Alaska Railroad's roster on my web site. I am currently missing 118. Therefore, I am kicking off a treasure hunt for those missing members. When someone sends in a good photograph of a missing member, I will use the photo on the roster plus list his or her name and submission below. Please try to send the following information with each photograph: photographer's name, location and date where it was taken, and any interesting tidbits (historical or otherwise). Thank in advance!
