Acknowledgements As my mobility decreases my gratitude to my supporters increases. I am amazed at their caring and generous spirit. My positive attitude is largely due to their heartwarming assistance. Terry and I want to say a heartfelt thanks to BJ Bjorgan and the Military Society of Model Railroad Engineers, Martha Conlan, Casey Durand, Shane Durand, Patrick Durand, Mike Gerenday, Victoria Greaens, Bill Hess, Frank Keller, Jack Klingbeil, Robert Krol, Bill O’Leary, Willow Peyton, Mark Rudd, Ryan Rodriguez, A.J. Washburn, and Greg and Laura White and God. Also, thanks to all Alaska Railroad employees who either knowingly or unknowingly added to our incredible experience. We are very grateful to Brian LeRoy who facilitated a fabulous stop at Denali Park, including the loan of his truck. Our stay was short but sweet, and we can't wait to return. Thanks so much Brian! Mary and Henry Krull knocked Terry and I off our feet with tours of Whistle Hill and Fresh365, a wonderful stay at their luxurious home and an incredible dinner. Terry and I are forever grateful for their Alaskan hospitality. A very special thanks goes to super generous Jim Somerville for picking us up and dropping us off at the airport as well as loaning us his beloved Honda Pilot during our trip. His steadfast support during each of my trips has touched me beyond words. He is a stalwart supporter of my dreams and a sterling example of what it means to be an Alaskan. Our biggest thanks goes to our dear friends Curt and Renee Rudd. Who in the world would build an extraordinary attached guest apartment for visitors to use? We thoroughly enjoyed their bountiful Alaskan dinners! Additionally, they provided us with rip-roaring, fun-filled experience as offgriders. Curt and Renee, you make our hearts smile! It has become quite a challenge for me to travel due to my limited mobility. With that said, my wife Terry undergirds me to ensure I can do this trip. None of this would have been possible if not for her limitless energy, "can do" spirit and loving support. I won the lottery when I married her. And thanks to all those railfans who have given me assistance and kind words of support over the years! You are truly the "wind beneath my wings." John Combs
