End of the Line

A lone GP38-2 has gone as far as it can go on the Alaska Railroad Palmer Branch, all to retrieve a couple of empty gondola cars stored at the end of the line. This trackage was abandoned in 2010, but saw action only once every few months even when it was in use, so catching this move was a real treat. Also, note the DC-3 (an endangered relic in its own right) resting at the Palmer Airport just beyond the fence. May 21, 2009
