Photo from the Durand Collection

The crane in the photo is # 55 (officially LC-55). Built in 1920 by Industrial Works, retired in the early 1980's. Boom car 0038 was the second boom car to carry the # 0038, the first was retired 1972. This car was rebuilt in 1971 from ARR gondola # 13341 (one of the war surplus cars that had been used by the D&RGW). It went into boom car service in 1972. - Don Marenzi

I shot this photo in August 1983; in fact I probably was standing next to Pat Durand when I shot it, so maybe the same day as his photo. - Don Marenzi
