I
followed the trip of old #3 yesterday as far as Wasilla, and thought
you might be interested in them. These pictures
were taken at the Birchwood Crossing, along the Glenn, and at Wasilla. |

Engine 2002 is pulling Rotary #3 from Anchorage to
Curry for display, moving light, at a stately 25mph. Photo #1
is approaching the Old Glenn Highway undercrossing, in the shadow
of the hill; photo #2 is almost at the undercrossing, out from
the shadow of the hill, by the short siding, which is why the steep
angle. Photo #3 is crossing the Parks Highway just south of Beautiful
Downtown Houston. There isn't a whole lot of room between the edge
of the woods and the bridge, so all I could get was the bridge
and the rotary, with the top of 2002 showing. Photo #4 is on the
other side, and the power pole's positioning didn't leave a whole
lot of choice, either. The other two I got were even worse, as
it disappeared into the woods on the other side, with the pole
moving along the train. I wanted both of them clear of the bridge,
and probably waited about 1/4 second too long. It was really cold
out there in the wind, so my fingers didn't work as intended. |
