Switching North Pole Refinery at 60 below. I wanted to capture the feel of -60. I quickly pulled my camera out from under my arctic jacket and snapped this shot back in the mid 90's. Looking at this shot still makes me shiver.

Jefferson Lee Davis adds, "I was there at -60. I had a propane weed burner to heat the air hoses so we could lace them up. I had to direct the flames at the propane tank to warm it up enough to keep the propane a gas instead of a liquid and then heat the air hose then repeat. Back and forth heating the tank then the air hose. Don't miss that at all."

Bryan Saul responds,"And then their were times that we didn't have a weed burner to soften the hoses and we had to resort to using fusees. After one such episode of inhaling fusee sulphur fumes at the Wainwright power plant, I decided I was better suited for engine service!"
