I have finally found the owner of the combine and that has turned out to be cool to hear about it. For those of you that know me personally this is like ultimate catch for me being a big fan of both Gleaner combines and the Alaska Railroad. To go back to the beginning I was sent a picture by a good friend a week before I got up of the combine in the Anchorage yard. I was kind of bummed that I was going to miss this shot. My dad and I had spent an afternoon in Delta Junction driving around talking to farmers to see if we could find out who purchased the machine (if you like farming Delta Junction is a cool place to see). After a couple days we were back in Anchorage looking to see what was in the yard and out of the corner of my eye I caught a silver flash and found the combine was still in town. I was able to get pictures of it and then found out it would be going on the Friday freight to Fairbanks. The timing couldn't of worked out better for me as the plan to was to go out and take pictures of trains that day anyway. It was great to catch it going north. The view with the mountains in the background just puts it over the top for me (being from Wisconsin it is just flat corn and beans). I put some feelers out to find the owner and talk to them about it but it wasn't looking good. Until last week I had received a message asking If I was the one who did the video on the combine. The combine is owned by Wrigley Farms. If you want to see a cool operation check out Alaska Flour Company.
