Both photos were taken from the Thompson Drive overpass next to UAF, Saturday morning 4 August 2018. We had some down time that day so the guys let me liberate the truck to do some railfanning.  I was actually trying to catch the Northbound overnight freight earlier that same morning; unfortunately it caught me by surprise as it was running ahead of schedule.  In my rush to find a place to pull over, grab the camera, and snap a few quick shots they came out pretty bad... being it was barely sunrise and overcast didn't help.     

Anyway I decided to wait on the bridge for the Southbound Denali Star, about 45 minutes later it rolled by, took a shot looking north and another south.  Nobody waived this time, guess still all asleep.
