Half Mast

Half Mast

ARR Engineer Martha Conlan briefly stopped the Southbound Denali Star at Wasilla Station so passengers could board and deboard. She gave me a friendly wave and resumed her journey past the half-mast flags and on to Anchorage. If you are able, please view the picture of Martha’s on a big screen. I normally limit my train posts to one a day even when I photograph two or three different trains but today I make an exception. 8/30/21

Half Mast

Yesterday morning’s northbound Denali Star passes by the flag hung at half-mast in memoriam and honor for the 13 American service men and women killed by a suicide bomber at the Kabul airport in Afghanistan. At least 169 Afghanis who hoped to escape Taliban rule in the wake of the American pull out died with them. 8/29/21
