Prior to June 7, 2000, a road was not available to drive into the town of Whittier. Beginning in the mid 1960s, the railroad offered shuttle service for vehicles using flatcars. Passengers could remain in their cars or sit in a passenger car. This photographer obviously found it a treat to sit in his car and take photos out his window along the route.
