DB-Switching-Suburban

Switching Suburban

An Anchorage yard job goes about its chores in the snow on this last day of March. The vintage black geep is swapping a load for an empty at Suburban Propane on this little spur that sits adjacent the mainline just south of the control point at CP1154. This view looks railroad south with the mainline in the foreground and the city skyline beyond dominated by the Hilton Hotel downtown. The building next to the locomotives nose is the ARR's signal and telecom shop.  GP40-2 3001 dates from April 1975 and a dozen years later is still at work in Alaska and as of now is one of three units still in this scheme.
