Spit And Polished

The pride this railroad has is evident in the fresh paint and brilliant sheen on the equipment even though this is only a once weekly train serving mostly locals and the few hearty winter adventure tourists.  This is the Alaska Railroad's Winter Aurora passenger train on its way 356 miles from Anchorage to Fairbanks.  After laying over for the night the little train will return south on Sunday.  Up front is SD70MAC 4328 in the capable hands of the ARR's #1 seniority engineer, Frank Sheppard.  To see the view from Frank's office up front check out this photo from the same train.
