Twin SD70MACs lead train 120S wheeling another load of containers south to Portage where they swing toward Whittier and a date with yet another Alaska Marine Lines barge up from Seattle.

On this grey summer solstice the blue and gold units and orange lichen growing on the boulders protecting the road bed provide a pop of color amid a dark sky with a hint of blue showing.

The train is hugging the tidal waters of Turnagain Arm as it crosses Bird Creek on the old 123 foot pony truss bridge at MP 86.6 28 miles south of the Anchorage depot.
