Waning gibbous moon

The once a month Hurricane Turn passenger train under the waning gibbous moon

Official sunrise today was 9:53. The Hurricane Turn train was scheduled to arrive at 9:55 and came pretty close. Moonset is scheduled for 1:28 PM. The locomotive facing the camera is pushing, not pulling. If it were pulling, this train would be headed south, but its headed north. Before I crashed my tiny Citabria airplane, I would often follow the railroad tracks from the Hurricane Turn, on south through the gap in the mountains through Chase and into Talkeetna, if I needed to stop for gas. If not, I would just continue on to Wasilla. I would buzz the house and whatever kids were home would pour out both front and back the door, jump up and down and wave at me.

Those were good days. They passed all too soon, as do all the good things in life. The bad things, too. 12/3/20
