BH-the-boy-who-loved-trains

The Alaska Railroad website says this about food amenities on the once-a-month, Hurricane Turn passenger train: “Unlike all other Alaska Railroad trains, there is no dining service on the Hurricane Turn. Passengers are encouraged to bring their own meals aboard.” It doesn’t say anything about coffee. There must be coffee. This is Alaska. How could there not be coffee?

Whether there is or not, the fellow behind the third window pain from the left appears to have come well prepared with his own, personal sized, thermos. While tourists are certainly welcome, the Hurricane Turn train is not a tourist train. The primary purpose of this whistle stop train is to serve homesteaders and such who live mostly in cabins off the grid in the wild country between Talkeetna and Hurricane.

These tend to be hardy, rugged, folks smart enough to carry their own coffee wherever they go.
