The single greatest maintenance problem for the railroad, "million dollar curve" at M.P. 353. The problem is due to constant movement of the mountains due to their sedimentary-permafrost composition. Seen here are examples of wooden beams interlaced with steel cables needed to hold sections of the roadbed together.
