Portraying the various types of work and special challenges that occur along the rails of the Alaska Railroad
Plowing snow ballast regulator: During the early years of plowing snow with Ballast Regulators, experimentation of how much work they could actually do occurred often. This is one such instance. The regulator is going down the pit track at MP-223 which had not been cleaned all winter. A friendly bet was made on whether the machine could make it down the track without becoming derailed or hopelessly stuck. With careful and skillful operation by Bob and Jim, it made it just fine. |
