Emergency shelter: Because of the blizzards that can come into Grandview quickly and ferociously, a small shack near the north switch provided a shelter if someone was caught out in a storm. Years earlier, when the snow removal equipment was not as plentiful, it was also used to house a workman whose sole duty was to keep the switches at Grandview clean for trains 'doubling/tripling' The Hill.
