work train
Here is another gem from Jack Klingbeil. This image is what looks like a short work train or maybe a freight made up of classic Alaska Railroad power and rolling stock. Let's look at all the detail.

The location is the Broad Pass area, and you can see the train is on top of a switch which could be the south switch of Broad Pass Siding. The locomotive is one of the unique ARR only RF1 locomotives in the original passenger scheme. The flat cars look to be more modern stock, possibly 127xx series and the last flat car coupled to the caboose could be a 128xx series as well. The flat cars closest to the locomotive has a small bulldozer and lumber on the second flat. The box car is a converted troop kitchen car that is now a box car. Now an interesting thing to note is it's light in color so it could be an early refrigerated box car painted in yellow. The caboose looks like one of five steel cabooses numbered 1022-1026.

This short train resembles more of a freight train, but also fits as an early freight train even though it is short. Since 1076 was repainted into the black and yellow freight scheme sometime in the 1960s and if the flat cars are  127xx and 128xx series, it's safe to say this was taken possibly between 1959 and say 1962.
