Alaska State Trooper's report: "On 11/20/04 at 0050 hours, AST received a report of a MVA at Mile 276 of the Parks highway. Investigation revealed that Thomas Tapp, age 48 of Fairbanks, had lost control of the semi truck he was driving and crashed into a Rail Road Crossing light pole assembly. Tapp had to get out of his truck leaving it in the path of the oncoming train. The train was unable to stop and ran into the semi truck which was on the Rail Road tracks. No injuries occurred. Preliminary estimate of damage is approximately $250,000.00. The Parks Highway was closed in the area of the accident for approximately 4 hours. Thomas Tapp was issued a summons to appear in court for the charge of Reckless Driving."
