This photo of Flat #12356 with an Alaska Steamship Company Van Trailer may be the earliest example of Pig service in Alaska. The photo dates after November 1954 as evidenced by the service date on the side of the flat car. Please be on the lookout for better pictures of this service and details on the trailers. The blocking and tie downs shown are primitive and would have consumed many hours if this had been the norm for Pig service. Alaska Steam did pioneer container and trailer service to Alaska.
