This is a wonderful color image of ARR boxcars rebuilt from WWII troop sleepers/kitchens as they appeared from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. Judging by how clean the cars look I would say this was taken in the 1950s.

Note how simple the lettering/numbering of the cars and the black roof and sill. What is neat about this image is also shows a refrigerated box car as well.

The early reefers were painted in yellow with black lettering and the regular box cars were the deep mineral red with yellow lettering until the 1970s when the big white McKinley Park logos and lettering.

The troop rebuild reefers were around after the new mechanical reefers came on property and received black McKinley Park logo and lettering.
