Matanuska

1986 was my last year as a resident of Alaska, so I needed to move quickly to capture the shots that had previously eluded me before I moved back to Seattle. Such is the case with this photo of a northbound passenger train crossing the Hurricane Bridge. I’d spotted this location a year, or so, earlier while riding the train. It’s an ambitious trek to this location on the north side of the trestle, but worthwhile. This photo was taken on a Saturday in May of 1986. I think this location still exists, but I won’t go back there again without help.

I’ve also attached a couple photos of the landscape taken from the bridge while on the Hurricane Turn on 6/17/12. I wanted to see if I could find the spot from which I took the photo. My best guess is that I was somewhere to the left (north) of the edge of the frame the bottom photo.
