All in a Day's Work

Portraying the various types of work and special challenges that occur along the rails of the Alaska Railroad

Moose along the tracks becomes a real problem in a heavy winter due to a lack of food and browse for them. Even though the moose is in no danger if they stay a few feet away from the rails, if they perceive danger they will go to where they can run easier......... which of course is right down the middle of the tracks. This photo was taken at Indian Siding while the Roadmaster and Talkeetna Section were trying to clear up a Ditcher that had a moose in front of it that obviously didn't want to leave the tracks.
