In the summer, the Alaska Railroad has so much work to do that it needs to lease some extra power. This unit was leased from Helm Leasing (HLCX) and is a GP38-3.  This picture was taken in the Whittier Rail Yard on July 13, 2001 just after coming off the barge. Photographs courtesy of Shane Durand
