The US Army originally owned this 1942 Alco RSD-1 as number 8024.   The ARR acquired it in 1951 (#1032) and returned it to the Army in 1956.  They in turn sold it to the Tennessee Valley Authority (#39) later that year.  I contacted the TVA folks to see if it was still around and found they are not railroad literate.  The above photo was taken at the Fairbanks Yard in 1951.
