Here is a beautiful photo of the 1530 outside the Anchorage shops. MATE 1, one the two slugs the Alaska Railroad had for a short time. Caboose 1025 is on the left. 1530 was one of the ex-Rio Grande Railroad F units bought in 1970 and was heavily rebuilt over a two year period after the prime mover (the diesel engine itself) was destroyed after throwing a rod. The locomotive was rebuilt to GP38 specs and was the only F7A unit to wear the DOT scheme. - Mike Gerenday
