1530 is an EMD F7A. It was built in 1950 (builder #11406) for the DRGW, #5654. The Alaska Railroad bought it in 1970 and later retired it. (Fort Richardson, 1976-1978) Mike Gerenday: Legend has it 1530 threw a rod and was fully rebuilt with a 645. By the time 1530 was done, it was a GP38 inside, F7 on the outside with the DOT scheme. It also had a new control stand from the photos I've seen. |
