Helm Atlantic (HATX) 505 is a GP40-2, built by EMD in December 1977 as Boston & Maine 305, painted in Guilford charcoal gray and orange in 1988, returned at the end of its 15-year lease, stored and then sold to Helm in February 1994. It was leased to CP Rail before Alaska had it. CP Rail bought several other locomotives from this series, but they returned this one to Helm.
