Leon Butler says of the 1550s, "They had automatic louvers on the radiator. Great engines for yard work. On the road by themselves, light engine, they were not very stable. But 50+ without a load was not the best idea anyway. 1553- and 1554 had transition gears. Fun to feel them switch over above about 35."
