Alaska Railroad offers new day trip to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center - 5/9/14

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – New for summer 2014, the Alaska Railroad is offering a rail and wildlife day trip option from Anchorage aboard its Glacier Discovery Train to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC), Alaska’s premier rehabilitation center for injured and orphaned animals. From June 1 – Sept. 14, trains will depart daily at 9:45 a.m.

The Alaska Railroad invites everyone to the 2014 "Railroad Days" open house 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 3rd, at the Anchorage Historic Depot, 411 W. First Avenue.

A family-friendly favorite, this community event features train rides, railroad equipment on display, balloons, kids tattoos, giveaways and gadgets, a prize drawing - all FREE!

Climb aboard the stationary Alaska Travel Train to discover ideas for exploring the state's railbelt communities and attractions this year. Hot dogs, snacks and beverages will be on sale, and the depot gift shop and rail ticket counter will be open.†

Attendees also have exclusive access to specials featuring amazing deals on rail travel. Broadcasting live from the depot, KMXS 103.1 FM radio will round-out this festive affair with upbeat music.
