Gallery Car #600

In Seward off Lowell Point Road, ex-Alaska Railroad 600 resides. The 600 was originally built by Pullman Standard for the Southern Pacific Railroad's Commute Service. Three wound up on the Alaska Railroad and use on the Whittier Shuttle.

In July of 2015, I managed to meet the owner of the 600, Mark Powers. Mr. Powers also owns the observation car Seward. Mr. Powers told me his plans for the 600, he wanted to turn it into some sort of cabin/residential unit. If I remember right, he wanted to rebuild it so it was like a duplex. Unfortunately, Mr. Powers is no longer with us, and the 600 is still sitting on cribbing awaiting an unknown fate. 07/05/2015.
