1510/1512 on the Wyoming Colorado Railroad
Jim Pallow worked directly with the 1510 and 1510 after they left Alaska in 1986. The two units were bought by Mountain Diesel Transport and wore a scheme similar to this. Jim repainted them in 1994 to this scheme and in 1995, the Wyoming Colorado changed it's name to a tourist operation so the name changed on the old motors. Thanks to Jim Pallow for taking photos of the 1510 and 1512 as well as documenting their lives after life on the ARR on a little railroad known as the Wyoming Colorado. This was taken on the WYCO in Albany WY spring 1995.
Everyone likes big steam, including Alaska Railroad diesels. Jim "JP" Pallow captured the 1510 and 1512 which were on the Wyoming Colorado Railroad in Laramie, Wyoming on May 30, 1994. Seems like life after the ARR treated these units well.
Jim "JP" Pallow was an engineer on the Wyoming Colorado and took a lot of photos of the three ex-Alaska Railroad F units that were rostered on that road. 1510, 1512 and 1517 were the three, 1517 was renumbered to 1511 and was cut up around 2005 or so. Jim has given me permission to share his images. His photos were taken on what was the Waldron Branch of the Union Pacific. The 1510 and 1512 survive today on the Verde Canyon. This was taken in 1989
