Tijuana Christian Mission
From June 17-22 a group of 27 people from Stillwater United Methodist Church traveled to the Tijuana Christian Mission in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

When Mother Teresa first visited Tijuana in 1988 she remarked that the poverty there was on par with anything she had encountered in Calcutta.  When I visited one of the poorest areas in Tijuana, it proved to be an amazing reality check for me and my family.

The following is a photo journal of our adventures.  Click on any of the photos for a larger view.

The Tijuana Christian Mission has been in ministry to the children and families of Tijuana, for over 40 years and is  located in Tijuana, Mexico, just two miles across the U.S.- Mexico border near San Diego, California. The Mission currently houses over 60 children and takes care of all their needs by providing three meals a day, paying for their education, providing them clothing and shelter, caring  for their spiritual needs, and providing them a warm and loving home where they know they are loved and  valued.
Dining room
The boys and girls live in separate dorms.  Their bunk beds are stacked three high with two to three sets per room.  Each dorm has a community restroom.  The showers may have hot, cold or no water depending on the time of day it is taken.
Cooks
The kids enjoy a hot meal before heading off to school.  In addition to school work, the children have other jobs such as sweeping and mopping floors, washing dishes, cleaning restrooms and carrying groceries.
The mission has a full staff including a maintenance man and full kitchen staff.  Our group was treated to real Mexican food.  Bottled water is provided for drinking or brushing your teeth.
